Last Saturday, Scottsville Elementary School families joined Principal Cyndi Wells in taking care of our Esmont community by picking up trash along the roadways. According to Ed Brooks, approximately 52 volunteers working various sections of Esmont ended up gathering a final tally of 125 trash bags throughout the day.
“The children worked hard and had fun caring for our roads,” Wells said. “They were sad at all the things tossed on the side of the road.”
Many SES students also contributed to this Day of Service through their art and design over 100 posters for Yancey Community Center.
Another Scottsville community cleanup day is scheduled for March 22. Join the Scottsville Center for Arts and Nature and members of the local community for a cleanup around the downtown area. For more details, visit SCAN online.
