Albemarle County Fire Rescue Responds to Residential Fire in Scottsville

On Friday, September 20, 2024, at approximately 10:55 am, career and volunteer units from Albemarle County Fire Rescue were dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 300 block of East Main Street in Scottsville.

The first suppression apparatus arrived on scene 8 minutes after dispatch. One adult, two children, and five pets were home at the time of the fire. All of the residents were safely evacuated from the home, and there were no injuries reported. The displaced residents, including an additional adult that was not home at the time of the fire, are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

The root cause of the fire is being investigated by the Albemarle County Fire Marshal’s Office, but is believed to have been accidentally caused by discarded smoking debris. ACFR would like to take this opportunity to remind the community to have working smoke alarms and know two ways out of your home.
