On June 1, Scottsville Elementary School held its second annual Tiger Trot in downtown Scottsville. The event included a 1-mile color run/walk and a 5k run/walk for 65 total participants. According to PTO member Sarah Morris, the Tiger Trot is a revamping of the school’s former Scottsville Scoot race that was held at the school. That event ended during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We have been very excited to revive this great school tradition and be able to include the community with the new location in downtown Scottsville,” Morris said. “We hope it will continue to grow each year!”
This year’s event raised $6,825.40 for the school from race registrations and sponsors. The money will go toward help with school PTO events, emergency funds for local families, teacher appreciation and supplies for the classroom.
