On December 28th, the Helping Hands Year End Food Drive concluded after gathering 895 food cans, dry goods boxes and essential hygiene item packs for distribution to needy families in the Scottsville area. The December-long joint effort was organized by the James River Good Works Group. Bread of Life handled distribution and the Town of Scottsville provided logistics.
Collection bins were hosted by Baine’s Books & Coffee, Baked by the James, Rivertown Antiques, Tru1st Bank, W.F. Paulett/Ace Hardware, the Scottsville Library, Town Office and Post Office.
“We thank these supporters, the 12 volunteers that made this project work, and all the generous folks that helped fill our collection bins” said project leader Melodye Courter. “Scottsville really stepped up for this good work.”
