Weather postpones first Fridays on the Canal

Another season of live music, community fun and summer evenings along the river is coming back to Scottsville this month!

The highly anticipated return of Fridays on the Canal | Scottsville’s Free Summer Concert Series in historic Scottsville was set to start this weekend, but forecasted heavy rain has postponed the kickoff event. The season will now start on May 29 with live music from the James Tamelcoff Band.

Set along the scenic James River in downtown Scottsville, Fridays on the Canal is a beloved free summer concert series that invites visitors and locals alike to slow down and enjoy the charm of small-town Virginia. From 5–8 PM on select Fridays, Canal Basin Square fills with live music, delicious food vendors, local beverages and families and friends gathering under the summer sky.

Founded by Ben and Jacqueline Rullman of Mr. Z’s BBQ in partnership with the Scottsville Chamber of Commerce, this community tradition is powered by volunteers, sponsors and hometown spirit. Hosted at Canal Basin Square with support from the Town of Scottsville, Fridays on the Canal captures everything people love about summer in Scottsville — music, river views, friendly faces and unforgettable evenings.

Bring your chairs, your friends and your love for local music. Summer in Scottsville starts here!
