Mark your calendars for Pollinator Day!

Downtown Scottsville is buzzing with excitement as Pollinator Day returns on Saturday, June 27, bringing a day of family-friendly activities, local shopping and educational fun to Valley Street.

Presented by the Scottsville Community Chamber of Commerce, Scottsville Center for Arts and Nature and the town of Scottsville, this community celebration highlights the important role pollinators play in our environment while showcasing the small businesses, organizations and community spaces that help Scottsville thrive. Visitors are invited to spend the day exploring downtown, enjoying special pollinator-themed sidewalk sales and participating in activities designed for all ages.

“Scottsville is a “Bee City” and it’s important to the town, SCAN and the Chamber to recognize our ever-important pollinators!” said Chamber President James Walker. “Just like our town, they may be small but of great importance!”

Local businesses will be featuring unique sales, specials and displays inspired by bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators. It’s the perfect opportunity to support local shops while learning more about the creatures that help gardens, farms and natural spaces flourish.

“As a plant and floral shop, Pollinator Day hits incredibly close to home for us,” said Daisa Pascall, owner of We Grow in downtown Scottsville. “We spend all year focusing on indoor greenery and custom floral design, but outside, our entire community relies on these insects—from our local farms and homesteads to our backyard gardens. What we plant here keeps our food system alive.”

In addition to the sales, families can enjoy Pollinator Storytime at the Scottsville Library at 10:30 a.m., where young readers will discover the fascinating world of pollinators through engaging stories and activities. Later in the day, visitors can cool off at the library with pollinator-themed movies showing at 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Beyond the scheduled activities, guests are encouraged to stroll through downtown, explore local businesses and enjoy the welcoming atmosphere that makes Scottsville such a special place to visit. Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, a supporter of local businesses, or simply looking for a fun way to spend a summer day, Pollinator Day offers something for everyone.

“We’re excited to hit the sidewalk from 10 to 2 on June 27 for the Chamber’s town-wide sale,” Daisa said. “We Grow will have plenty of native plants ready to go, plus a fun, bee-themed picnic craft families can grab and take to the park. Come support the whole town and help our local pollinators thrive!”
