Halloween weekend brings plenty of fall fun to Scottsville

Halloween weekend is shaping up to be a busy one in and around Scottsville, with something for just about everyone. From family-friendly activities and local markets to live music, art and a few spooky after-dark celebrations, what will be part of your holiday memories?

Start the weekend on Friday, October 30, with the Halloween edition of Fridays on the Canal at Canal Basin Square. The free evening event runs from 5–8 p.m. and features live music from the James Tamelcoff Band, along with food, drinks and a festive Halloween atmosphere.

At Eastwood Farm and Winery, Oktoberfest festivities continue through the weekend, while Saturday brings a full day of Halloween activities. Halloween at Eastwood runs from noon to 4 p.m. with kids’ activities, face painting, live music and a costume parade. Then, as evening arrives, Eastwood After Dark: Halloween Edition takes over from 4–8 p.m. with swing dancing, live music from Zuzu’s Hot 5 and a costume contest.

Families can also keep the Halloween fun going with a Tract-or-Treat at Fruit Hill Orchard, while little bakers can get creative during the Halloween Kids’ Cupcake Decorating Class at Baked on the James. Then bring the kids to downtown Scottsville to trick-or-treat at participating local businesses on Saturday night!

For those looking to get outside, Hardware Hills Vineyard is hosting Down to the River: A Hardware Hills Hike & Sip on Saturday from noon to 4:30 p.m. Guests can pick up a bottle of wine before taking a short hike to the Hardware River and enjoying the fall scenery along the way. RSVP is required.

For a quieter fall experience, this is also the final weekend to see the Autumn Colors exhibit at Gallery on Valley, featuring artwork inspired by the beauty of the season. The exhibit continues through November 1.

With costumes, music, art, fall colors and plenty of local flavor, Scottsville is a great place to spend Halloween weekend.
