The Gallery on Valley is currently accepting applications for their next exhibit, Ghosts and other Mysteries! The exhibit will open on Thursday, October 2nd and run through Sunday, November 2nd. Submission will be accepted until Friday, September 19th.
Ghosts and other Mysteries will be an exhibit of paintings, photography, sculpture, ceramics, fabric/linen, metal works, etc., that reflect the magical and the mysterious, with haunting depictions of all things that mark the autumnal equinox and the entering of the winter season. The Autumnal Equinox occurs near to the Harvest Moon on September 21. Halloween, which today means ghosts, witches, candy, costumes, had its origin in the Celtic Samhain, a night when the boundary between the living world and the world of the dead became thin. Meddlesome ghosts caused trouble, and people wore masks and costumes to disguise themselves from these spirits.
