Southern Development is inviting the public to celebrate the Grand Opening of its brand-new Lindsay Model Home at West Village on Saturday, June 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Located at 1012 Bethune Street in Scottsville, the event offers an opportunity to tour the beautifully designed model home while experiencing one of Central Virginia’s newest residential communities. Guests can enjoy live music, exciting raffle prizes and delicious barbecue from Mr. Z’s BBQ while exploring the neighborhood and learning more about available homes.

The Grand Opening is designed to showcase not only the model home but also the lifestyle that West Village offers. Visitors are encouraged to bring friends and family, meet the Southern Development team and discover why Scottsville continues to attract those seeking a blend of small-town charm and modern convenience.
“This is first development that’s been in Scottsville for a long time,” said Bianca Svetz, marketing director for Southern Development Homes. “It’s looking really good, which is really exciting! It’s a gem of a town.”
Residents will enjoy one of the community’s most appealing features: its walkable location. Situated within walking distance of downtown Scottsville, West Village provides convenient access to local shops, restaurants, community events and essential services. Whether enjoying a stroll along Valley Street, spending time on the James River or participating in one of the town’s many festivals, residents can fully embrace the vibrant community life that makes Scottsville unique.
Homebuyers can choose from five thoughtfully designed floor plans featuring three to six bedrooms and ranging from 1,764 to 3,988 square feet. The planned 36 lots feature homes priced starting at $499,900, offering options for families, professionals and anyone looking to enjoy the benefits of a connected and growing community.
Known for its rich history, scenic beauty and strong sense of community, Scottsville continues to be one of Central Virginia’s most desirable small towns. West Village represents an exciting new chapter in the town’s growth, providing modern homes while preserving the character and neighborly spirit that residents cherish.
“I, for one, am excited to see our new neighborhood taking shape,” said Mayor Ron Smith. “When I moved here 19 years ago, the town’s population was a little over 500. Today, the population is a little over 500. In order for the town and it’s businesses to survive, we need more residents.”
When the Scottsville Town Council was voting on the development located around the former Hyosung Tire Plant, Smith was the tie-breaking vote that led to move it forward. As mayor, Smith only votes on town matters if there is a tie vote by the six Council members.
“As Mayor, I was able to vote and voted to make West Village happen,” Smith said. “West Village is the first new neighborhood in Scottsville in over 70 years. I will always believe I voted for the future of the town and the welfare of the community.”
Those attending the Grand Opening will have the chance to experience firsthand what makes West Village special and why so many people are choosing to call Scottsville home. For more information on the development, visit West Village – Southern Development Homes.
