On March 14, 5 volunteers from the James River Good Works Group got together to clean up 4 miles of James River Road centered around the intersection of that road and Langhorne Road. After 2 hours of picking and bagging, the group ended up removing from the roadside the equivalent of 90 grocery bags full of cans, jars, bottles, paper, food containers and other trash.
The cleanup of those two road sections, each approximately 2 miles long, is sponsored by JRGWG’s under Virginia’s Adopt-a-Highway Program. Road cleanups of those road sections have been carried out by the James River Good Works Group about every 3 months since 2022. The next quarterly cleanup of James River Road is scheduled for Saturday, June 13, 2026.
