Rooted in the rich soil of Scottsville, the Red Rose Pub brings the farm-to-table experience to life in the most authentic way. Here, the journey from pasture to plate isn’t a trend, it’s a way of life.
“America is waking up to how our food is processed and how we’ve been conditioned to eat slop,” said owner Nick Petro. “We’re here to offer a healthier palette for Scottsville.”
At the heart of the Red Rose Pub is a commitment to farm-to-table dining. Every dish is thoughtfully prepared using ingredients raised and grown from local farms within a 75-mile radius from the restaurant. With a menu that will change with the seasons, every ingredient will share its own story for diners, from the seasonal vegetables harvested at peak freshness to the pasture-raised eggs, grass-fed beef and farm-raised pork and chicken that form the backbone of each dish. This deep connection to the land ensures that every meal is not only fresh and flavorful, but thoughtfully and sustainably produced.
“We have a very talented chef cooking high quality food,” Petro said of Chef Dale Ford, who has previously served dishes at Trump Winery and Devil’s Backbone Brewing Company. “We’re happy to be of service in this community.”

A member of the food industry for approximately 7 years, Petro came back to Scottsville to help on his family’s farm, Chevy Chase Farm. He had slowly been working his way up from a dishwasher and this time on the farm sprouted a new plan for a vertically integrated approach to his own restaurant. When the former owner of 515 Valley Street showed interest in leaving the area, Petro was ready to start making his vision a reality.
“The timing was right,” he said. “I’d been wanting this for some time, so I jumped on it.”
Tucked on Valley Street close by the scenic James River, this new local gem opened its doors to guests at the end of 2025, with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony on March 25, 2026. With an atmosphere that is just as inviting as the menu, the Red Rose Pub offers the perfect setting for gathering with friends or unwinding after a long day. Guests can enjoy a craft beer, sip on a glass of Virginia wine, or dig into a hearty burger made from the farm’s own grass-fed beef.
For many who have already enjoyed a delicious bite to eat here, the Red Rose Pub offers more than just a meal, it offers a story. A story of sustainable farming, of food made with intention, and of a community coming together around the table. With its dedication to quality, local ingredients, and genuine hospitality, the town’s newest restaurant is quickly becoming a place locals can call their own.
