The batteaus are returning to Scottsville!

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, June 19th as the James River Batteau Festival stops in Scottsville!

The James River Batteau Festival is an eight-day event featuring authentic replicas of the shallow-draft, flat-bottomed merchant boats used across North America for trading in the colonial days. Beginning on the waterfront of Lynchburg the festival moves along a 200-year-old route, stopping each day in the historic towns and communities along the way.

The batteaus started their journey on Saturday and will reach Scottsville on Wednesday, with a town-wide celebration scheduled for 12-6pm. The event will include live music, food vendors, live reenactors from the Virginia Canal & Navigation Society and more!
