What an incredible weekend! If you walked by the Scottsville Elementary School grounds over the last few days, you witnessed something truly special. Thanks to an outpouring of community spirit, our latest project is officially coming to life.
A Huge Thank You to our PTO
First and foremost, we want to extend a massive thank you to our PTO. This project began long before the first shovel hit the dirt. Our PTO members, notably Shelly Hamler, spent countless hours researching and writing the grants that secured the funding necessary to make this dream a reality. We also appreciate Steven Morris from Ballinger Creek Management Company for the concrete prep-work that made the work on Saturday possible. Your dedication to providing the best for our students is the engine that drives us forward.
It Takes a Village
This weekend was a masterclass in teamwork. We are feeling overwhelmed with gratitude for:
- Our Community Organizations: Thank you to American Pest, Ballinger Creek Management Co. and the Building Goodness Foundation for showing up with tools, supplies, and expert hands.
- Our Families: From hauling mulch to tightening bolts, your hard work transformed the space in record time.
It was incredible to see the teamwork in action. Seeing parents, neighbors, and kids working side-by-side reminds us why this community is so unique.
What’s Next?
The kids are already buzzing with excitement! While the progress this weekend was significant, we are just getting started. The students are already asking, “What’s next?” and we can’t wait to show them.
Hamler said the group is meeting again today and looking for more volunteers, specifically those with carpentry skills. They are also seeking cardboard box donations. Contact the PTO at Scottsville.elem.pto@gmail.com for more information!
