Scottsville’s local plant shop will offer a summer camp for youth for the first time this summer.
“As a teacher, I typically work over the summer at other camps and decided that this year I would venture into hosting my own,” said WeGrow owner Daisa Pascall. “I just found inspiration from my lifelong passions for art and nature and integrated that into a creative experience for campers.”
In addition to teaching art at Walton Middle School, Daisa has operated WeGrow for the past three years. The Valley Street storefront offers patrons a place to shop and learn about plants, plant care and growing methods, as well as attend workshops.
Designed for ages 5 and up, there will be two opportunies for youth to attend the WeGrow camp this summer. Two separate camps will take place over three days in June and July. During these days, Daisa hopes to blend artistic expression with hands-on gardening adventures for a vibrant and enriching summer camp experience.
“I’m hopeful that the campers and families find it affordable and convenient to access,” she said of the camp. “I hope I can also share the importance of local businesses and how vital it is to spread the passions for entrepreneurship at an early age!”
